The Ibanez WH10V3 is Back

The Ibanez WH10V3 is Back

Ibanez

The much beloved Ibanez wah from the eighties is back new and improved. This wah, most notably used by John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has updated features like its die-cast housing and switchable bypass for this third iteration of this pedal.

The V1 version of the pedal in the eighties was made with a plastic housing that was problematic for many guitar players who had to make sure they didn’t crack their pedal when using it. This V3 version is made with a solid die-cast housing that will endure the rigors on the road. It also features a variable depth knob that will allow the player to set their wah intensity. There is also a multiple feedback op-amp built in that will maintain the pedal’s consistent gain throughout all frequencies. A selectable GTR/BASS switch will adjust the frequency and could be useful for players using lowered tunings or seven and eight string guitars.

For fans looking for that Frusciante wah sound, or those looking to try out this redesigned pedal from the eighties, now is your chance. Priced competitively at $149, this pedal is packed with many features that other wah pedals don’t have and at the same price or even lower.

The song “She’s Only 18” from the 2006 Chili Peppers release, Stadium Arcadium, is one of my favorites examples of what this wah can do. Take note of one of John Frusciante’s best solos on this song to hear the wah in all its glory.
